Native Habitat Restoration
Recently the City of Franklin commenced a native grassland restoration project at Harlinsdale Farm in partnership with Friends of Franklin Parks and Josh Oates/Kindred Land Management. The restoration work will transform a former 6 acre pasture into a thriving native grassland habitat. The first step in the restoration effort is to eliminate non-native invasive species and other introduced grasses. This process takes time, usually 12-18 months. The area will then be planted with a biodiverse mix of native warm season grasses, forbs, and wildflowers. Once complete, this habitat will play a crucial role in supporting a healthy ecosystem for pollinators, birds, insects, and other wildlife. Stay tuned for future signage at the site to share the vision.
